Communication technology has specific requirements within the context of emergency response applications. Simulation of emergency response scenarios with the required functionalities is a cost-effective means for modelling and evaluating the performance of the network, triggering alerts and a dynamic coordination of a multi-disciplinary community for a quick response. However, validation of a model would not be possible without interaction with interdisciplinary experts working directly with first responders. Failure in communication infrastructure and information exchange has impeded the early response efforts resulting in huge loss of lives and economical impacts.
