Transdisciplinary Research Strategy On Crisis Management And Population Resilience (STRAP) Project

Call for Participation – Workshop in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, April 2025

Indonesia, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian and Asia-Pacific countries face diverse risks, exacerbated by climate change. Indonesia, with its disaster management agency (BNPB), has a strong foundation in preparedness and response. BNPB is collaborating with France to strengthen its actionable knowledge, focusing on governance and resilience in the growing tourist destination of Labuan Bajo. Recognizing the risks faced by tourists in both countries, the French Embassies in Indonesia and Vietnam are also involved in this initiative.

STRAP is a project “Fond Equipe France rapide” respectively funded and supported by the French Embassy in Indonesia and in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Indonesian civil security BNPB and SILDARO. PI: Caroline Rizza, I3-Telecom Paris, IP Paris.

The STRAP project has two primary objectives:

  1. Develop a 5-year roadmap for transdisciplinary cooperation between researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders in Indonesia, Vietnam, and France.
  2. Conduct a transdisciplinary pilot project on “Population Resilience and Digital Technology” in the rapidly developing tourist areas of Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, and Quang Binh Province, Vietnam.

Call for Posters

The first objective focuses on creating a research collaboration roadmap for risk reduction and crisis management in natural disasters, using a community-centered approach. Franco-Indonesian and Franco-Vietnamese teams of researchers and operational staff are collaborating to develop this roadmap and identify existing and future areas of collaboration. A potential outcome is a center of excellence in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia.

The roadmap’s findings will be presented at a hybrid final workshop associated with ISCRAM the 24th of April 2025.

In the context of this final hybrid workshop a call for posters on Crisis Management and Population Resilience in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific is opened.

Selected posters will be presented at the project’s final workshop and included in the publication indexed ISCRAM digital library. Poster authors will have the opportunity to present at ISCRAM 2025 (see https://www.iscram2025.com/call-for-posters).

Each poster has to be sent with a one-page of description to caroline.rizza@telecom-paris.fr , olivier@sildaro.com , and iscram.president@gmail.com.

Deadline: 12th of April CET
